The Academic Center is a new edifice that has become the front door of the central campus of Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC).
This new facility houses a broad mix of functions, including performing arts, visual arts studios and classrooms, and a student life center. The centerpiece of the building is a 1,000-seat theatre equipped to prepare students for careers in performing arts and production.
Visual arts and general academic classrooms attract students from all across campus.
The student commons has become a popular gathering place spilling out onto a sidewalk café along a main pedestrian and vehicular artery of the campus. The building is designed with a formal, classical style and defines the future architectural language of the campus. The classical façade faces an expansive lawn towards downtown that invites the public into the performance hall.
