During his career that has spanned more than four decades, John has provided design services nationally and internationally, specializing in office and mixed-use projects, as well as corporate workplace environments for developers, corporations, governments and institutional investors. A LEED Accredited Professional, he has been a vocal advocate for sustainable design and green building principles and on energy policy issues at the local, state and federal levels.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Pennsylvania State University, and studied at the University of Florence in Italy.

He also ensures that people at Little are deeply involved in volunteer leadership and pro bono activity in our communities, and that we are using our talents as designers to do our part in creating a better future for people.
Phil is active in the AIA CEO Large Firm Round Table and has served as an AIA Charlotte Board member. His current and past community leadership includes President of the Catawba Lands Conservancy, Board Member and Chairman of the Mecklenburg County United Way campaign and Chairman of the AEC Division of the Arts & Science Council.
A 30-year veteran of the practice, Phil earned his Bachelor of Science in Design and Master of Architecture from Clemson University. He has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences, including the AIA National Convention and INC Magazine’s CEO Symposium, and has served on multiple AIA Design Award juries.

A guest critic and lecturer at design schools, Carol has been published both nationally and internationally and is frequently a featured presenter at national conferences on Workplace. She received her Bachelor degree from The Catholic University of America, her Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and is a LEED and provisional WELL Accredited Professional.

He has helped develop market sectors and continues to mentor extraordinary multi-disciplinary talent to ensure that Little’s clients experience the full force of the most innovative expertise in the industry.
Charles is unrelenting in his quest to deliver unmatched customer service and to create functional designs that meet the operational and business needs of every client. He received his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.



Tom Balke

As a Studio Principal in the Community Practice, he and his team focus on projects in the traditional public, public charter, private and faith-based school markets.
Throughout his 28 years in school design and construction, Tom has honed his expertise in programming schools, and in site and building master planning. Clients he has partnered with include Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Jacobs, Invest Collegiate, Charlotte Latin School, Hammond School, Surry County Schools and the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte.
Tom continues to further his knowledge of educational design, serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte and being a presenter at CEFPI, School Building Expo, NAIS, NC Alliance for Public Charter Schools and NC Public Charter School Association conferences.
Tom received his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of North Carolina at charlotte and his Master of architecture from Washington University.

Tom is a design review committee member for the Center for Architecture in Raleigh, a member of the Charlotte Educational Committee and a design juror for three AIA chapters. He has taught extensively at UNC Charlotte’s College of Architecture, where he continues to serve as a juror and advisor.
In addition to authoring two books, Tom has written articles on education design for various journals and been a presenter at CEFPI. He earned his Masters of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Nancy Everhart

Henry Kwon

Tim Morrison

Tim’s commitment to design excellence, coupled with his prior experience working for a major supermarket chain, has clarified the requirements of his team from the client’s point of view. He understands the architect’s role of designing a unique solution to a flagship store or organizing the talents necessary to deliver takeovers, remodels, new store prototypes and one-offs.
Working with many of the most respected supermarket innovators and successful chains in the country has made Tim a sought after knowledge resource for his specialized perspective. His contributions have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Supermarket News and Progressive Grocer, and he was recognized as Retail Construction magazine’s Retail Designer of the Year in 2008.

Eddie Portis

In addition to authoring two books, Tom has written articles on education design for various journals and been a presenter at CEFPI. He earned his Masters of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Tom continues to further his knowledge of educational design, serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte and being a presenter at CEFPI, School Building Expo, NAIS, NC Alliance for Public Charter Schools and NC Public Charter School Association conferences.

She leads the multi-disciplinary Design Performance Optimization team, which provides energy modeling, daylighting analysis, and other related services.
Within this role, Jen works with engineering and design teams to create custom solutions for clients by going beyond the anecdotal evidence to numerically validate design improvements. The Center further validates results by collecting performance data through post-occupancy. Jen is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC®) and challenges clients to focus on designing high-performance buildings that not only require low operating energy but also provide a comfortable, well-lit, healthy environment that feels like home, whether an office or a skyscraper.
Jen’s interest in high performance design was evident in her graduate studies as she was a Graduate Research Assistant at the Daylighting and Energy Performance Laboratory, now the Integrated Design Research Lab, at UNC-Charlotte. There, she received her Master of Architecture degree with a concentration in Architectural Technology, in addition to her BS in Architecture from The Ohio State University.

Most recently, he has managed adaptive reuse or rebranding projects for more than a dozen national and regional grocers and retail rollout clients, all of which require a thorough understanding of store operations, consumer behavior and shopping trends.
Henry created the “Zero+1” philosophy, through which he and his team offer additional solutions beyond the imagination. This approach guides architects’ and engineers’ efforts to deliver results beyond the client’s goal for schedule, budget and quality.
Henry received his Master in Architectural Engineering from the University of Chunnam in South Korea. He is a Planning Committee member of ICSC Hispanic Market Initiatives San Diego Region.

Tim’s commitment to design excellence, coupled with his prior experience working for a major supermarket chain, has clarified the requirements of his team from the client’s point of view. He understands the architect’s role of designing a unique solution to a flagship store or organizing the talents necessary to deliver takeovers, remodels, new store prototypes and one-offs.
Working with many of the most respected supermarket innovators and successful chains in the country has made Tim a sought after knowledge resource for his specialized perspective. His contributions have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Supermarket News and Progressive Grocer, and he was recognized as Retail Construction magazine’s Retail Designer of the Year in 2008.

Jeff serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for Commercial Construction & Renovation (CCR) magazine and on the Board of Trustees for the Clemson Architectural Foundation (CAF). He speaks frequently at retail industry events, including ICSC CenterBuild and the CCR Summit.
A 31 year veteran in the profession, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science in Design from Clemson University. He also studied at the Charles E. Daniel Center for Building Research and Urban Studies in Genoa, Italy.
