The City of Rock Hill’s vision and Economic Development Master Plan is to reinvigorate this old textile corridor into a progressive innovation corridor called Knowledge Park District.
At the heart of the new pedestrian-centric linear park, Storyline, lies The Thread—an adaptive reuse of the 7+acre site and old Baxter Mill building. Partnering with The Keith Corporation, the design pays homage to the past by retaining as much of the existing details within the building as possible to convey the project's authentic nature.
Situated between Winthrop University and historic Downtown Rock Hill, The Thread sits between the two most bustling parts of the city. Phase 1 of this three-story mixed-use redevelopment project features 30,000 SF of exciting retail and destination restaurants, 150,000 SF of spacious Class-A creative offices, plus a new event and entertainment area called the Freight Yard.
